Prom dress shopping season is officially here and the earlier you jump on the bandwagon the easier your dress shopping process will go! We know it feels like prom is a ways away, but honestly now is the best time to start looking. Here are six important must knows to help you out:
- Start Shopping Early
If you start looking now, you will have the biggest selection of dresses because stores are freshly stocked with amazing dresses just waiting to be tried on. It also is great to start now because if the store doesn’t have the dress you fall for in your size, it gives them enough time to order it and have alterations done in time for your big day!
- Determine Your Budget
The MOST important tip we have! Determine what your budget is BEFORE going to the store. It’s important to let the sales associate know when you first come in what your budget is. Dresses range in different prices and the last thing you want to do is try on a dress that isn’t in your budget and fall in love! (remember this tip, ladies for when your wedding dress shopping!)
- Bring Heels
Most girls plan on wearing heels to prom, (if that’s not you, I’m sure you feet will thank you!) so trying on dresses at the store with heels will give you a better feel for how the dress will lay and look on the day of. Plus, for taller girls it’s especially important because it allows you to make sure the dress is long enough!
- Try On Everything
This is your prom! The dresses are endless, the styles are amazing and it’s time you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried everything on. This is an important tip, going to the store and only wanting to try on certain styles or colors will limit you and if you find yourself not so lucky you will have exhausted all the dresses. Trying all style and gown types may make your decision harder in the end but it will be well worth it come prom day!
- Ask About Undergarments
Finding the right undergarment is a total must and can be difficult and different depending on the type of dress you are planning on wearing. Your sales associate is going to be the best person to help you with this and prevent any bra strap showing moment on your prom night!
